The Yankee Air Museum is dedication to "Honoring Aviation History and Its Participants Through a Living, Flying Museum."
In October 2004 a terrible fire destroyed the historical hangar that housed the Yankee Air Museum. This hangar was originally built by Henry Ford to help produce the B-24 Liberator...also known as the flying boxcar. Many of us have relatives or friends of family who may have worked at this facility.
While all the artifacts and some aircraft were destroyed, we were able to save our B-17, B-25, C-47 and our Stinson Gull Wing. Did you know that the Stinson Aircraft Co. began in Northville, Michigan in 1926!
Did you know that Charles Lindburg lived in Bloomfield Hills and worked at Ford's B-24 facility at Willow Run?
Our goal is stir the interest and passion of all avaition enthusiasts to bring our museum back from ashes. We are the only museum with these three historical and flyable aircraft.
Come out and take a ride in a piece of history.
